Learn how we can help you...

Does this sound like you?

“I HATE My Body!” Yes, We’ve all Been there Before…

You avoid mirrors. You’ve even stood in front of the mirror obsessing over every inch of you body, picking it apart! You may have even said to yourself, “If only I could lose a few pounds!” If only I had more curves! If only my nose were smaller or straighter! If I only looked like this influencer or celebrity, I would feel better about myself!

“My Life Would be so Much Better!”

So, you Try Everything within your Power to Change, but…

You try starving yourself through restrictive fad diets and severely limiting your food intake, only to temporarily lose some weight, but later re-gained the weight you’ve lost, plus more! You’ve searched for “Overeaters Anonymous groups near me,” and even attended a few meetings, only to find that it wasn’t the level of support that you were looking for. You’ve contemplated going through with dangerous cosmetic surgical procedures or weight loss surgery in spite of all the risks involved, knowing in the back of your mind that long-term results or feeling good about your body are NOT guaranteed!

Diet’s Don’t Work!

I’m going to share some hard truths with you from a place of love and compassion, so here goes… First, restrictive diet don’t work! They never have worked! Restrictive diets aren’t sustainable and they fail to address the underlying factors, such as the underlying psychological and emotional stressors that cause us to self-sooth with food, impact our lifestyle habits, and effect our behaviors surrounding food. Additionally, restrictive diets can lead to feelings of deprivation, triggering overeating or binge-eating behaviors, leading to what feels like a never ending cycle!

It’s Not You, It’s Society’s Beauty Standards!

Another sad truth is that we live in a world where society’s unrealistic beauty standards, constantly tell us that we’re not good enough, we’re not thin enough, we’re not curvy enough, we’re not attractive or desirable enough! These standards of beauty often make us feel pressured to change the way we look externally, often not for ourselves, but to fit into a mold of how others want us to present ourselves!

A Balanced, Realistic Solution!

The Mindfulness Space will help you to work through the underlying psychological, emotional and behavioral factors that impact your current relationship with food and with your body. With nearly a decade of clinical experience, I’ll work with you to develop an individualized plan tailored to treat your specific concern using researched proven therapeutic interventions, while addressing the underlying anxiety, depression, deep-seated trauma, or other psychological factors that have continued to perpetuate your roller coaster relationship with food.

Meet Stefanie!

Stefanie Lawson MSW LCSW Eating Disorder and Body Image Therapist Greensboro NC

Stefanie Lawson, LCSW

HELLO!

My name is Stefanie Lawson! I’m a size-inclusive,  Health at Every Size (HAES) aligned, licensed therapist in Greensboro North Carolina with nearly a decade of clinical expertise!

I help my clients to recover from disordered eating, like uncontrollable emotional eating, recover from under-eating, as well as, heal from body image dissatisfaction that stems from underlying depression, anxiety, stress, or past traumatic experiences.

Like you, I’ve struggled with the pain related to uncontrollable binge eating, as well as, the harm of not eating enough due to fad dieting, that included fasting and starving myself for days on end! Not cool! I’ve suffered through periods of not loving my body. I’ve also experienced anxiety and depression that have led me to use ineffective coping strategies, such as using food as a means of self soothing and managing my own painful emotions.

Every journey begins with a single step!
